I'm so proud of you-proud is a word used by believers and unbelievers as well. Definition: Having or displaying, feeling of scorn for what is regarded as beneath oneself Strong's definition in Hebrew number H7311: To be high, bring up, exalt (self)), haughty, heave (up), lift up high Synonyms: disdainful, haughty, highfalutin, lofty, lordly, prideful, superior Definition of prideful: having too high an opinion of oneself We as believers know that pride is something that God hates and resist. Therefore, we leave the door open for pride to continue to creep back into our lives and have a place there, even after we have removed pride out of a particular area of our lives. Being deceived into thinking saying "I'm so proud" has no bearing on pride in our lives. We leave the door open for Satan to come back in (Matt 12:43-45, Luke 11: 24-26). What does God say about proud? Pride is one of the seven things God hates- Prov. 6:6-19 We have learned through these scriptures that the use of the word proud or phrases containing proud as a positive or strength, cannot be used in faith at all. We are charged to hate everything that God hates. These scriptures show how far the hatred of God will go to resist those that are proud. Pride began with Satan desiring to be lifted to the place God held as ruler of the universe, the maker of heaven and earth. He imagined in his heart the lofty, proud position for himself, that was not his to have. He wanted the honor and glory that God had. He wanted the worship that he was actually the leader of to be directed toward him. We are to cast down anything that imagines itself higher than God or his word
(II Cor:10:5) . That includes our own thoughts and words that we use. Jesus said
on one occasion, that we are not defiled by what goes in our bodies, but by what
comes out; Satan's thoughts and words (pride) deceived him and condemned him. He became that imagined himself higher than God, to be cast down. Jesus said he saw him fall like lightning from heaven (Luke10:18).
